| An in-depth review of Apple's iSight & iChat AV (BETA) |
|
After we at NaoPress
watched the delayed Quicktime broadcast of WWDC 2003 we realized that
we had to get our hands on a iSight camera. Only a few days later we
went down to our neighborhood Apple Store and stood in-line as we
watched the iSight boxes being sold like hotcakes and then finally got
to grab our own. Why are they selling so fast? Does it work? Find out
in this review of Apple's new iChat AV & iSight. Review Menu Click here to discuss this article and review » Stage One: The Opening [selected] Stage Two: Putting it all together As soon as we brought back two of the iSight cubes to Naoworld.com Network HQ, we pulled out a digital camera (yes, it is ironic that we used a digital camera to take pictures of a digital camera) to take snaps of the opening and installation of our newest purchase. So, below are images of the opening and a look around at the iSight box. Two sides of the iSight box (yes, we couldn't help but take off the wrapping) Left side of the opened box includes print material (legal and manual) as well as an assortment of three stands, one for a CRT Display, one for a flat panel and one for a Powerbook or iBook laptop. Right side of opened box reveals the camera itself, the iSight sits along side a neat little case to help you keep it from being scratched when your friends and family try to have a look. Once opened we have to say that the box seems to be exactly like or iPod box. Next on the tour is a quick look at the iSight itself.
The bottom of the iSight camera consists of the Firewire port for connection to your Mac as well as two prongs which connect the camera to the stand of your choosing.
On the back of the iSight camera a grey Apple logo a la Mac OS 10.2 is present. Next, once we were done examining the iSight camera we realized that we could actually install it! It is time to put it together! Next stage: Putting it all together (click here to continue) |
